Mid-Major Stars You Will Get to Know

Players that can carry their teams to a win or two:

Edwin Ubiles/Kenny Hasbrouck, Siena: The Saints won their first-round match-up last season, and this two players are a big reason why. Both are difficult to defend and can carry the club.
Luke Nevill, Utah: A future NBA prospect, Nevill is one of the best centers in the country and will be difficult for anyone to handle. It will be fun watching him against Jordan Hill in round one.
Lee Cummard, BYU: A FOXSports.com All-American, Cummard is one of the top shooters in the nation and can catch fire in a hurry. He is unbelievably effective inside the arc.
Gary Wilkinson, Utah State: The 26-year old veteran is talented enough and savvy enough to carry the Aggies to the second round. He should have a big day against Marquette.
Gordon Hayward/Matt Howard, Butler: It’s not the backcourt anymore for Butler; it’s the frontcourt do of Hayward and Howard. Howard is a load inside, while Hayward is a future pro.
A.J. Slaughter, Western Kentucky: The Hilltoppers have the goods to pull off another first-round upset, led by Slaughter, a versatile scorer who can really shoot it.
Eric Maynor, VCU: We all remember Maynor from two seasons ago, when he basically single-handedly knocked off Duke in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament.
Chris Wright, Dayton: Wright is a high-flyer who can finish with the best in the country. He will have a very interesting battle with West Virginia’s Da’Sean Butler.
Matt Bouldin, Gonzaga: One of the least-heralded of Gonzaga’s starters, Bouldin has developed into one of the best players in the country and can do everything on the court.

Players that will not last more than one round:

J’Nathan Bullock, Cleveland State: A rugged match-up problem at forward for the Vikings, Bullock is going to give the talented Wake Forest frontline a run for their money.
Ben Woodside, North Dakota State: Woodside scored 60 points earlier this season and hit the game-winning shot in the Summit Tournament championship game.
Adam Koch, Northern Iowa: An inside-outside offensive threat, Koch has come through at clutch times this year for the Panthers. He will be matched up with Robbie Hummel.
Dionte Christmas, Temple: Christmas picks the biggest spotlight for his biggest games of the season. The NCAA Tournament seems like the perfect time for him.
Garrison Carr, American: Carr is one of the nation’s best three-point shooters and he nearly shot the Eagles to an upset over Tennessee in last year’s Tournament.
Jeremiah Dominguez, Portland State: The Vikings own a win at Gonzaga this season, and Dominguez is capable of leading them to another upset in the first-round.
D.J. Rivera, Binghamton: Rivera is the subject of some eligibility controversy with the Bearcats, but on the court, he is one of the best scorers at the mid-major level.
Artsiom Parakhouski, Radford: Parakhouski will have his hands full with Tyler Hansbrough in the first-round, but he will also have a chance to show the nation what a dominant inside force he is.
