Group Rankings: Wing Duos

FOR A COMPLETE PREVIEW OF THE 2007-2008 SEASON, CLICK HERE

An inside-outside combo and a solid trio are necessary to win a national championship, but having wings that can score are important as well. Two perimeter players that can create their own shots and take pressure off the point guard and the post players make a team that much more dangerous. Here are the top wing duos in the country heading into the season:

1. Kansas: Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush
2. Oregon: Malik Hairston, Bryce Taylor
3. Tennessee: Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith
4. Marquette: Jerel McNeal, Wesley Matthews
5. UAB: Robert Vaden, Paul Delaney
6. Xavier: C.J. Anderson, Stanley Burrell
7. Texas A&M: Josh Carter, Dominique Kirk
8. Saint Louis: Kevin Lisch, Tommie Liddell
9. Temple: Dionte Christmas, Mark Tyndale
10. Arkansas: Patrick Beverley, Sonny Weems

Others to Keep an Eye On:
North Carolina State: Gavin Grant, Courtney Fells
Alabama: Mykal Riley, Alonzo Gee
Providence: Weyinmi Efejuku, Geoff McDermott
Kentucky: Joe Crawford, Jodie Meeks
Arizona: Chase Budinger, Jawann McClellan

Found a way to mention Alabama in every post, yet not mention Barry Stewart/Ben Hansbrough of Miss. State?? Ben actually averaged a better 3PT % than Barry, and both were All-SEC Freshmen.

Austin Peay's Drake Reed and Fernandez Lockett.

Reed is a 6'5 wing who was named OVC Player of the Year in 2007 after averaging 15.8 ppg 6.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, on 51.9 FG% shooting.

His fellow wing is athletic stud Ferndandez Lockett, a 6'5 rebounding star who averaged 11.9 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.8 apg, and 1.2 spg on 49.7 FG% shooting. He was named Second Team All-OVC.

Austin Peay is a sleeper pick by many to do some serious damage in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. And they'll do it behind the star play of these wings.
