Biggest Upset in NCAA Tournament History

And, no, I'm not talking about basketball.

I know this is a college basketball site, but with the offseason very slow right now, I figured I would a) send a shout-out to my school and b) draw everyone's attention to the fastest-growing sport in America right now: lacrosse.

Unless you follow the sport, you probably wouldn't know that my University of Delaware Blue Hens defeated No. 2 seed Virginia in the NCAA Tournament yesterday. Many experts consider the victory to be the biggest upset in lacrosse tournament history. While the Cavaliers were the defending national champions and had lost only one home game in the past three seasons, the Blue Hens went into Charlottesville and dominated the hosts, coming out with a 14-8 win.

The win also snaps a 20-game losing streak against top 10 teams for Delaware, and is its first tournament win since 1999. Virginia is the highest ranked opponent the Hens have ever defeated.

With a Final Four bid on the line, the Hens will go up against UMBC, who knocked off No. 7 seed Maryland in their first-round match-up.

If you're going to be in the Baltimore or Annapolis area on Sunday, head over to Navy's campus and watch Delaware play. There's a good chance I'll be there (in case you were wondering).

Your regularly scheduled programming will return tomorrow.

Talk about being a homer on your own blog, "Go watch my school's team play, I'll be there"

Well I do want people to go, and I will be there, and I feel more people should know about it.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Glad to hear you don't think so, since you're the only person that has had a problem with it.

I did not realize that I am not able to represent my school at all in the blog. What was I thinking?

By the way, that quote that you used in the first comment...I don't see that anywhere in the post. You should probably re-read it or something.

don't argue semantics, you know what i meant with the quote

it just seems a bit unprofessional to boast about your college's lacrosse team on your college basketball web site, and adding the fact that you will be there.

hey its your blog you can write whatever you'd like, but all i'm saying is how many times do you see a beat writer for one sport interject info about a game his college's team won in a completely different sport?

I'm a beat writer? Damn, I didn't know.

How much am I getting paid for it?

Look for at $100 cheaper consoles, minor but welcome upgrades, and more pressure on Nintendo and Microsoft in the gaming console market wars.

A little off topic, Guys... I have a question. A week ago I played around this site:
Rivalspot.com - Wii tournaments for money
They say you can play online NHL game tournaments on any console for cash... had anyone tried that before? Looks like a cool idea...
Are there any other sites where you can play sports games for real moneys? I Googled and found only Bringit.com and Worldgaming.com but it looks these guys don't specialize in sport gamez. Any suggestions?
